Why Can’t My Cell Phone Do That?
Monday, July 27th, 2009Cell phone manufacturers cram their phones with features most people will never use, but they forget the most basic ones. Here is a lits of features I would like on my cell phone. Some are technologically advanced hardware upgrades, but most only require a software update. Is anyone in the industry listening? Please share this blog post if you like some of those features. If enough people ask for them, we might actually get a few! Feel free to add new ones in the comments.
- Automatically turn on/off at certain times, on certain days.
- Send selected callers directly to voicemail.
- Drop calls or text messages from selected callers.
- Have a different chime when receiving text messages depending on sender.
- Ability to silence the phone, except for some chosen callers.
- Silently receive and delete text messages containing certain words.
- Adjust the ringtone based on ambient noise, except during chosen times.
- Have different voicemail greetings depending on caller.
- Automatically reply to certain text messages or senders.
- Turn on/off upon voice command.
- Recharge from moving or ambient noise.
- Ability to turn off when moved.
- Have a built-in wifi detector.
